Notifications keep collaboration manageable
GitHub can notify you about issues, pull requests, discussions, mentions and repository activity. Without sensible notification settings, active projects can produce too much noise.
Use mentions intentionally
Mention specific people or teams when their input is actually needed. Clear descriptions and targeted reviewers reduce unnecessary notifications.
Watch versus participate
You may receive notifications because you watch a repository or because you directly participate in an issue or pull request. Configure notification preferences to match the projects that genuinely require your attention.
