Function Parameters and Arguments

Functions become more powerful when they can accept data and work with it. This is done using parameters and arguments.

Parameters are the names listed in the function definition.

Arguments are the actual values passed to the function when it is called.

By using parameters and arguments, you can create flexible functions that work with different data every time.

Why Parameters Are Important

  1. They allow functions to work with different values
  2. They make functions reusable
  3. They help avoid writing multiple similar functions
  4. They make code more dynamic and flexible

Without parameters, functions would be very limited.

Here, name is the parameter and "Amit" and "Riya" are the arguments.

The same function is used to greet different people by passing different values.

In this example, the function takes two parameters and performs a calculation.

This shows how functions can be customized with different data each time they run.

This example shows how parameters and arguments are used in real-life programs like billing systems.

By mastering parameters and arguments, students gain the ability to write flexible, reusable, and professional JavaScript functions.
