Why Error Handling Matters
Unexpected errors can make an application difficult or impossible to use. Production applications should provide a useful fallback interface and record enough information for developers to investigate the problem.
Error Boundaries
An error boundary can catch errors thrown during rendering in supported descendant components and display fallback UI.
Important Limitation
Error boundaries do not replace normal API error handling. Network failures, validation errors, and many event-handler errors need to be handled in their own code paths.
Production Practices
- Show a friendly error message.
- Provide a recovery option where possible.
- Log unexpected errors safely.
- Do not expose sensitive server or debugging information to users.
- Handle API errors separately.
